Bryce Tingley - Carrier Library

This is the computer section of the Carrier Library. Carrier is located towards the end of the quad. JMU students most often use this space to study, and get work done, but can also be seen skimming facebook, and checking twitter often. The designers of this space obviously wanted this space to be used as a place where students could come and use the facilities to get their schoolwork done. This space could be improved by trying to change up the layout a bit, and get some more computers and desks in there, as it gets very busy at times, and the students could use the extra space. Environmentally, the fluorescent lights could be subbed out for more eco-friendly lights that would use less energy, or take advantage of the huge windows towards the end of the room by only turning on half the lights. This space will stay in my memory as a place where while here, I got work done, pulled through in the clutch, and scored decent grades due to that fact. Greenberg's article makes a good point, but I think JMU has done a pretty good job making this campus tie together well, as well as provided us with a very nice outdoor area.
