Jackie Jacobsen Madison Spaces for 4/7/10

This is the courtyard that is surrounded by the buildings Chandler, Shorts, Eagle, and Showker. It serves as a meeting place, a playground, and a “hang out” spot or simply as a walking path. Overlooking the lake, it stands out to people as being a very picturesque spot on campus. In the early fall and spring you can find students out and about in this area enjoying the weather together and some even attempting to get that “summer glow.” The oh-so-popular Mrs. greens draws many people to this area too. You can often find people eating take-out through out the court yard. The grills located to the side of Chandler hall are often used once it gets nice out for students to take a break from the campus food and enjoy a little bit of their own cooking. The basketball courts are a great way for students to exercise and enjoy the time spent with others. It is clear that the University takes the fact that this is a good hang out place into consideration because they have provided the means to sit outside in the nice weather with the multiple tables that are available and the benches scattered across the courtyard. If you look closely, you can see all the way in the bottom right is the back of a maintenance truck. The university is constantly cleaning up the bushes and plants in this area to ensure that it looks nice and so that it is a good place for kids to distress a little.
